Charles Dayton Ferris of Maple Fork - Born August 28, 1936 went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, September 25, 2011 after a courageous battle with a short term illness. Charles passed away peacefully at the Bowers Hospice Care Center of Cranberry, WV in the company of loved ones. A native of Lively, WV he was one of 7 children born to the late Madison Van Buren Ferris and Barbara Daisy Smith Ferris. He was preceded in death by his sister Pat Williams; half sisters, Viviane and May Shrewsbury, and an infant child. He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly thirty-three years, Anna (Tootsie) Gilland Ferris of Maple Fork. � He will be greatly missed by his five children Dennis Ferris of Parkersburg, Tammy Young of Sophia, Sue Burton and husband Michael of Maple Fork, Patty Maynor and husband Donald of Maple Fork, and Nancy Cochran and husband Danny of Lester, also by, two step-sons, Mike Fuller and wife Rosie of Oak Hill, and Rev. Darrell Fuller and wife Laurie of Hilltop. He will also be missed by his grandchildren, Michael of Crab Orchard, �Katelyn of Beckley, Patricia and husband Christopher with their unborn son due in February 2012 of Mount Airy, Alan, Dana, and Denise of Lester, Brandon of Maple Fork, and a step-grandson, Nick Fuller and companion Becky Tincher and their son Michael Jace of Oak Hill. His surviving siblings are Elizabeth Stover of Bradley, Jake Ferris and his wife Lou of Naomi, and Leonard (Bubby) Ferris and wife Marilyn of Charlotte, NC. Charles touched the lives of many people with his work ethic and generosity. Family and friends will be received at a memorial service for Charles on Wednesday, September 28, 2001 at the Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope with Rev. Harmon Davis officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Miller/Ellison Cemetery at Rt. 1, Scarbro, WV.
