Charles Daniel Roberts (Charlie) of Melbourne, Florida passed away on Friday, June 10th, 2022, after a short devastating illness.
He was born on April 10, 1973, in Beckley, West Virginia. He was the son of the late Charles Ervin Roberts of Eccles, West Virginia.
He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Georgia ‘Allen’ Roberts and wife Bessie Jane Roberts also maternal grandmother Irene C. Quillen. Charlie enlisted in the United States Army shortly after high school. He loved fishing, being outdoors and working on cars. He was a kind soul who would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.
He is survived by his sons, PV2 Austin S. McDowell, Bentley J. Sockabasin, and PFC Charles D. McDowell (Kevin), sister Vickie L. Claypool and husband, David II and their son David III and his companion Christina Sargent, mother Angela I. Tarr of Goode, Virginia and stepfather David. He was loved by his uncle, Bob Quillen and companion Linda. Charlie will be missed by his companion Maria of 15 years and her son Philip. Hewill also be missed by his loyal dogs Sassy and best buddy Bruno who went everywhere with him. Charlie loved to talk of home and the good life. He loved his aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and all others who accepted him as he was. He always wanted to know how family was doing and news of home.
He left us much too soon and will be sadly missed.
Please join us in a service of remembrance to be held on Friday, June 24th, 2022, at the Eccles First Baptist Church at 1:30pm for all who would like to attend. Pastor Gary Hall will be conducting the service.
At a later date, a graveside service will be held at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens,2150 Pea Ridge Road, Oak Hill, West Virginia.
