Chandler Jonah Phillips

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM up to service time. Chandler Jonah Phillips, age 91, of Oak Hill, WV, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2012 at the Appalachian Regional Hospital in Beckley, WV Born January 19, 1921 at Wriston, WV, he was the son of the late Lilburn and Ida Arthur Phillips. Chandler was a former miner, timber man and blacksmith/farrier. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Wolfe Phillips, by a son, Charlie Bill Phillips and by a daughter Mary Fisher. His brothers and sisters, Charlie Phillips, Donnie Phillips, Lloyd Philips, Jessie Klosski, and Blanche Light also preceded him in death. Surviving are his son and daughters, Cathleen Madden of Hickory, NC, Chandler Bud Phillips of Oak Hill, Dreama Ann Campbell of Scarbro, Louise Southall of Wriston, and Alice Adkins of Webster Springs. Also surviving are 31 grandchildren, 22 great grandchild and 1 great great grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at the Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, WV with Rev. Ronnie Persinger officiating. Burial will follow in the Phillips Cemetery at Wriston, WV. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to services on Wednesday, January 25, 2012. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
