Cecil Raymond Jarrett, age 83, of Scarbro, W.Va. passed away on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008, at Hidden Valley Nursing facility in Oak Hill after a long illness. Born March 8, 1925, at Milburn, W.Va., he was the son of the late Thearon Jarrett, Sr. and Mary Rose Drain Jarrett of Paint Creek. Cecil was a retired coal miner having worked from Imperial Colliery Coal Co. He was a member of the Mossy Living Word Church. As an outdoorsman he loved to hunt, fish, and camp. A Seaman First Class, he was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy on April 6, 1948, having served in World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ollie Mae Whitt Jarrett; three brothers, Theron Jarrett Jr. of Oak Hill, Lenor Jarrett Treadway of Rock Mountain, Va., and Jack Jarrett of Paint Creek. Survivors include his three daughters, Mary E. Giles and Linda Rinehart and her husband Bob, all of Fayetteville, W.Va., and Denice Stover and her husband James of Paint Creek; his son, Bruce Jarrett and his wife Trina of Gatewood; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Phillip, Jessica, and Jared Stover of Hico, W.Va., Brandon, Kim, Eric, and Eli Stover of Scarbro, Danielle, Tommy, Alexa, and Zack Horrocks, Cheryl, Chelsie, and Jordan Horrocks all of Dixie, W.Va., Kelly, Andy, and Kayla McMillion of Scarbro, Taylor Jarrett and Tyler Jarrett of Gatewood, W.Va.; great-great-grandchildren, Andrew and Jacob McMillion; three brothers, Donnie Jarrett and wife Edith of Gatewood, Jimmy Jarrett and wife Evelyn of Paint Creek, and Benny Jarrett and wife Kathy of Illinois; and three sisters, Pauline Workman of Coal River, W.Va., Caroline Smathers and Shirley Blevins, both of Hilltop. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2008, at the Mossy Living Word Church at Mossy, W.Va., with the Rev. Paul Basham officiating. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Memorial Garden, Pea Ridge Road, Oak Hill, where graveside military services will be conducted by Oak Hill VFW Post 3110. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services on Tuesday. Pallbearers will be Phillip R. Stover, Brandon L. Stover, Tyler W. Jarrett, Andy McMillion, Tommy Horrocks, and James Stover.
