Carington Edward "Eddie" Osborne, 78, of Oak Hill, WV died on Sunday, March 04, 2007 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. Born November 19, 1928 at Whitesville, WV he was the son of the late Fred G. and Elizabeth Gee Osborne. He retired after 42 years service as a conductor for the CSX Railroad having worked at Gauley Bridge and Hinton. Mr. Osborne was a member of the Jones Avenue First Church of God, Oak Hill where he sang tenor in the choir. He was actively involved in all aspects of the church's work. Eddie was an honorary member of the WCG; always ready to lend his assistance for dinners, receptions or whatever project they undertook. He went on several mission trips to Peru. He was a gracious host, opening his home and his heart each time he and Alice entertained family and friends. A 1947 graduate of Gauley Bridge High School, he attended both Marshall and West Virginia Tech. He was a US Air Force veteran. Two brothers, Frankie and William Osborne preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Alice J. Bloxton Osborne; two daughters, Caroline Toney and husband, Arthur and Beth Burdette and husband, Thomas and two grandsons, Richard Carington Burdette and Coy Thomas Burdette all of Oak Hill, WV and by several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Jones Avenue First Church of God on Thursday, March 8, 2007, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Friday, March 9, 2007 from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 PM. Services will be on Friday, March 9, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. at Jones Avenue First Church of God in Oak Hill with Rev. Ralph Shupe, Rev. Tonya Shupe and Rev. Richard Bradley officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill WV with military graveside rites by VFW Post 3110, Oak Hill. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Building Upkeep and Maintenance Fund at the Jones Avenue First Church of God, PO Box 104, Oak Hill WV 25901.
