Catherine Sherwood

Catherine Sherwood, of Fayetteville, WV passed away on Saturday, July 14, 2007. She was a resident of Fayetteville for over 40 years. Mrs. Sherwood She was born in Ronceverte, WV, the daughter of the late Daniel and Cora Ripley Phillips. She is survived by stepchildren, Carol Launt of TN, James Sherwood of Belle,WV and Terence R. Sherwood, Jr. of Sanford, FL. Also left to cherish her memory are cousins, Bill Gum of Covington, VA, Terri Guerrero of Sanford, NC, Lisa Rider of Sanford, NC, Norma Thomas of South Charleston, WV Vickie Morris of Hugheston, WV Susan Cox of Dover, DE, James Thomas of Charleston, WV and Michael Thomas of East Bank, WV and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Terence R. Sherwood, sister, Hilda Phillips, stepchildren, Doris Sherwood, John D. Sherwood and Dempsey Sherwood. Catherine was founder and co-owner of the former Sherwood Block Company. She and her husband also owned and operated restaurants in the Charleston area. She loved and cared for any animal that came to her door, winged or footed. She enjoyed working with flowers and plants, and loved to shop. She enjoyed being in the kitchen, cooking and baking. She was a very caring person who loved life and lived it to the fullest. She will be missed greatly by many. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel, Oak Hill with Pastor Robert VanFossen and Pastor Toddy Morris officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Montgomery Memorial Park, London, WV.
