Carolyn "Susie" Wilshire Gray

Carolyn “Susie” Wilshire Gray, age 59, of Oak Hill, WV went to be with the Lord on April 16, 2009 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV following a courageous battle with brain cancer. Born on April 3, 1950 at Oak Hill, WV she was the daughter of the late Paul and Ruby Dunn Wilshire. Susie was retired from the United States Postal Service. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Scarbro, where she served as treasurer. She enjoyed and spent countless hours in her yard, gardening and planning home improvement projects. She had great admiration for the outdoors and loved fishing with her husband and son. Most importantly she truly enjoyed reaching out and helping others in need; either through difficult times or helping them accomplish and organize daily activities or just being their friend. Susie was a 1968 graduate of Collins High School in Oak Hill. In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by her sister, Brenda Wilshire Newcomb. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 40 years, Ronald “Ronnie” L. Gray, a son Daniel “Danny” A. Gray of Piney Flats, TN. A very special brother-in-law Emory “Ted” Newcomb of Oak Hill. Also a very special person that God brought into her life that has been like a daughter, Barbara Miller of Fayetteville. A brother Darrell Wilshire and his wife Betty of Oak Hill and several nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 20, 2009 at the Tyree Funeral Home Chapel, Oak Hill with Rev. Kenny Smith and Pastor Jerry Bush officiating. Burial will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.
