Carol Joan Wygal, 85, of Glen Jean, was peacefully reunited with her beloved husband Jack and their firstborn son Chris on Sunday, March 23,2025. Born on February 5, 1940 to George and Irene Smith. Carol was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to all who knew her.
Carol shared 66 wonderful years of marriage with the love of her life, Jack Wygal, before his passing. Their bond was one of deep love, joy, and unwavering devotion. Together, they built a life rooted in faith and family.
She worked for 20 years as a seamstress at Leggett/Belk and lovingly continued sewing for her family, creating, beautiful dresses, and cozy blankets. that will be treasured for generations. Carol had a green thumb and a special love for flowers, always finding peace in planting and watching them bloom each spring. Her kitchen was filled with the sweet smells of her homemade cakes, cookies and her peanut butter fudge. Carol was a devoted member of the Church of the Nazarene in Beckley, where she served faithfully as church secretary. After retirement, she and Jack spent their days camping at Bluegrass Gospel Festival in Summersville and riding his Harley, visiting friends and enjoying pleasures of life together. Of all her roles, being a mother and grandmother was her greatest joy. She was incredibly proud of her children and poured her heart into her grandchildren, each of whom she loved deeply.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Deb Dorsey; her son Scott and wife Brittani; grandchildren, Eric (Liz), John, Jessica (Martin), Kayln (Kevin), Callie, and Jax; and great-grandchildren, Kolton, Jack, Benjamin, Abigail, and baby Emmitt, who upcoming arrival Carol joyfully celebrated; and brother, Gary Smith (Marilyn).
Carol's kind heart, steady faith, and enduring love will be remembered always. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched and the family she cherished so dearly.
