Carl Wayne "Rabbitt" Taylor

Carl Wayne “ Rabbitt” Taylor, age 69, of Oak Hill, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Plateau Medical Center.

Born October 21, 1945 in Oak Hill, he was the son of the late Wilbur Huston and Bridget Kathleen Clifford Taylor.

Carl was a retired coal miner, member of the National Guard for several years and also served his country in the US Army during Viet Nam.

He was preceded in death by sisters, Dreama Richards and Anna Lee Gibson and by brothers, Charles and Gene Taylor.

Surviving are his daughter, Carla Remy and husband, Terry of Oak Hill; two grandchildren, Jesse Kincaid and Haylee Remy; and his former wife and best friend, Anita Given; two step sons, Johnny Given and wife, Kimberly of Oak Hill and Herold Given, Jr. and wife, Debra of Oak Hill; two step grandchildren, Joshua Givens and Ashlynn Fridley.

Also surviving are his brothers, Roger Taylor of Bradley, Howard Taylor of Hilltop, and David Taylor of Scarbro; sister Linda Hancock of Oak Hill; a special niece and nephews, David Burgess and Tracy Burgess, both of North Carolina and several other nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, November 20, 2014 at the Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill with Rev. Bobby Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens with military graveside rites conducted by Oak Hill VFW Post #3110.   Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to services on Thursday.

Pallbearers will be Terry Remy, Jesse Kincaid, Stacey Surnear, David Burgess, Christopher Burgess and Thomas Burgess.
