Carl Lee Burton, 77, of Mt. Hope, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2024, at his residence.
Born October 27, 1946, at Maple Fork, he was the son of the late Carl C. and Pearl V. (Burton) Bryant.
Carl was born and entered into eternal rest on the same property in Maple Fork 77 years later.
Carl was a coal miner with 28 years of service and was a member of UMWA. He attended the Maple Fork Baptist Church. In his leisure he loved to hunt, garden, and brag about his tomatoes. He also loved feeding deer, loved watching races and especially had a great love for driving. He was a lifelong resident of Maple Fork.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his daughter, Leiha Shaver; one grandson, Christopher Porter; two granddaughters, Gracie Shaver and Isabelle Barker.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Angela Workman Burton; his children, Sandra Drennen (Steve), Tammy Porter (Bobby), Michael Burton (Sue), Lori Wyatt (Kevin), Ali Collinsworth, and Terry Shaver; one sister, Patty Henderson (Rodney); two brothers, Ed Fertig (Debra) and Floyd Bowyer; fifteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and Numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be 11:00 A.M., Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Tyree Funeral Home, Mt. Hope with Pastor Jim Bowyer officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
Friends may call one hour prior to services Thursday at Tyree Funeral Home, Mt. Hope.
Family will serve as pallbearers.
