Carl Harvey Blake, 82, of Elizabethton, TN, formerly of Oak Hill, WV died Sunday, January 18, 2004 at his residence in Tennessee. A native of West Virginia, he was born April 14, 1921 at Wriston, WV son of the late Erma Cox Blake Epperly and the late. Ira H. Blake. He was preceded by his step-father, Robert Epperly. Mr. Blake was a World War II veteran, receiving the Purple Heart Medal. Survivors include his wife, Mary Alice Roop Blake, Oak Hill, WV; two daughters, Cheryl Lynn Williams, Elizabethton, TN, and Nancy Carr, Oak Hill, WV; three sons, Russell Roop, Oak Hill, WV, Carl Blake II, California, and Iradee Blake, Clarksburg, WV; two brothers, Ray Blake, Morristown, TN, and John Blake, Nebraska; three sisters, Bernice Malinick, Columbus, OH, Edith Burns, Kentucky, and Betty Marlight, California. The graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 21, 2004 at the V.A Mountain Home National Cemetery, Mountain Home, TN with the VFW Post #2166 presenting Military Honors.
