Calvin C. "Skip" Williams

November 1, 1947 — April 14, 2010

With his wife by his side, Calvin C. "Skip" Williams, Jr., 62, of Mount Hope, WV went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at Appalachian Regional Hospital in Beckley after battling a long illness. The youngest of three children of the late Calvin C. Williams, Sr. and Ruth M. Hurd Williams, he was born November 01, 1947 in Fayette County, WV. Early in life Skip worked for the postal service until he moved on to work alongside his father at Williams Body Shop of Mount Hope. Then to pursue his love and passion for racing, he went to work for several NASCAR teams with the body and pit crews. His final few years were spent as the head rollback driver for Ernie and Laurie Davis of Hometown Subaru Kia. Throughout his short life, Skip touched so many people - in ways large and small. He devoted his time and energy to being a loving husband, devoted father and loyal friend. Those he touched understood that the quality of one's existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. A sister, Shirley Cales and a brother, Bobby Williams preceded him in death. In 1975, Skip married Debra Dunkley of Beckley. She survives him as does his daughter, Stephanie Williams of Jacksonville, FL; nieces, Bethany Cales and Jordan Cales and nephew, Glen Cales and his wife, Teresa of Hinton. Services will be on Monday, April 19, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Mount Hope with Rev. Danny Kincaid officiating. Burial will be at Sparrell Davis Cemetery on Davis Cemetery Road in Maple Fork. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home on Sunday, April 18, 2010 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Sam Sheets, Don Madden, Buddy Dunkley, Wilburn Dunkley, Glendon Cales and Jerry Dunkley will serve as pallbearers.
