Calvin Phillip Manning, 83, of Oak Hill, West Virginia, went peacefully to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, July 11, 2021. All who know him know him first and foremost as a devout man of God and his family holds comfort knowing that he will join loved ones in his Heavenly Kingdom. Calvin was a member of Fellowship Memorial Baptist Church, a deacon, Sunday school teacher, a past president of the WV Gideons and all-around student and scholar of the Bible. He was also a cherished husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary “Carol” Manning; three children, Vera Warner (Joel Davis) of Oak Hill, Denise Spatafore (Sam) of Bridgeport, and Danny Manning of Cincinnati, OH; six grandchildren, Amanda Bennett, Briana Warner (Justin Williams), Alexi Levock, Antonio Spatafore and Dominic Spatafore and Trace Manning; and two great-granddaughters, Mia and Madelyn.
Calvin was preceded in death by his mother and father, Bertha Snow Cox and Phillip Andrew Manning; sister, Murlee Richardson and son, Keith Leon Manning.
Many know Calvin from the family business, Manning & Manning properties. He was a world traveler, having been to all continents. He traveled the world for both mission work and for enjoyment with his beloved wife Carol. For years, Calvin and Carol enjoyed spending vacations on Hilton Head Island. When they weren’t working, dedicating time to the church or traveling, they were at a grandchild or family member’s game, match, performance or birthday. Calvin loved watching college football and his favorite Mountaineers.
