There he earned a teaching degree and upon graduation began his teaching career at Pax Junior High. After 3 ½ years, he transferred to Mount Hope High School where he taught for another 36 years.
If you knew him, you knew he was proud of Marshall University and attended each home football game and stayed to the last play with his friend since college, Tom Cloer. He also liked to hang out with all his “cronies” at Link’s Pennzoil in Beaver - owned by his good friend, Kerry Link. Once he was finished there, he would often drive his little red sports car to Jarrell’s pharmacy – owned by his friend of 40 years, Doug Jarrell. He and Doug spent many hours enjoying old stories. There he also became a second dad to Michele Keaton. He also loved to visit his close friend Gabrielle Elmore of Crab Orchard.
He was also a born again Christian, attending Fayetteville Baptist Church when health permitted.
