Brian Anthony Fox, 41, of Gatewood, died early Sunday morning, September 28, 2014, at home following an apparent heart attack.
Born April 30, 1973 in Beckley, West Virginia, he was the son of Larry and Carroll Fox.
Brian attended Oak Hill High School and Marshall University. He entered the world of broadcasting at an early age working for WCIR, and then WJLS. He worked in tech support for Inet-One and Cellular One. He was invited by Computer Concepts Corporation to work at their Kansas City headquarters as a computer analyst and installer. Several years later he moved to Florida and worked for Cox Communications in a similar capacity. After moving back to West Virginia, Brian co-owned White Oak Lanes Bowling Center in Oak Hill with his brother and sister-in-law. He last worked for Southern Communications in Beckley as a systems analyst and broadcast engineer.
Brian held a private pilot’s license and enjoyed flying. In fact, he was in the air on September 11, 2001 when the tragedy began in New York, and he was among the aircraft ordered to quickly land as U.S. skies were emptied that day.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Betty Nuckels Fox in 2004 and Loren J. Fox, Sr. in 2013; and maternal grandfather, Ernest W. Bradbery in 1957.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, L.J. Fox, III and his wife, Marjorie of Oak Hill; maternal grandmother, Vella Mae Feazell of Oak Hill; nieces, Kai Tlynne Wootten and her husband, Elijah of Clovis, NM, Caladan, and Meridian Fox of Oak Hill; nephew, L. Jackson, IV of Oak Hill; great nephew and niece, Izaic and Aurora Wootten of Clovis, NM; aunts, Lynn Bradbery of Vienna, and Penny Palmer and her husband, Gary of Olathe, KS; uncle, Charles Fox and his wife, Linda of Wheeling; and his best friend, John P. Mullins of Morgantown.
Brian was cremated. A service of remembrance will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Rev. Bryan Knight and Father Roy Gene Crist officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
