Billy Ray Hess, age 59, of Oak Hill, passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital.
Born February 3, 1955 at Marfrance, WV, he was the son of Betty Jane Epperson Hess-Thomas of Oak Hill and the late Russell Lee Hess.
Billy was a graduate of Sherman High School and was of the Baptist Faith. He was a heavy equipment operator in the construction industry and served his country in the US Air Force from 1973-1977.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Samantha Jo Hess of Beckley, three sisters, Joni Green and husband Thomas of Oak Hill, Rhonda Hess of Beckley and Ginger Pembroke and her husband David of Hagerstown, MD.
Funeral services will b e held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at the Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, with Dr. Randy James officiating. Burial will follow in Wallace Memorial Cemetery at Clintonville with military graveside rites conducted by Oak Hill VFW Post 1310.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday , November 4, 2014 one hour prior to services.
Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
