Billie B. Lafferty, 81, of Pax, WV died Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley after a short illness. Born May 22, 1932 at Pax, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Homer and Willie Opal Huffman Lafferty. He was a retired coal miner having worked for Milburn Colliery and was a member of the Packs Branch Baptist Church. Billie was a US Navy veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellen Hicks Lafferty; two daughters, Debra Lynn Pritt and husband, Lawrence of Lively and Mary Kathleen Coll and husband, John of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Shane Pritt of Bradley, Jason Pritt and wife, Georgie of Salt Rock, Lorainne Lafferty of Omaha, Nebraska and Kendra Lafferty of Richmond, Virginia; great grandchildren, Savannah Pritt of Salt Rock and Kali Lafferty of Omaha, Nebraska; three sisters, Melba C. Thomas of Anchorage, Alaska, Shelby J. Weekly of Fayetteville and Charlotte L. Lewis of Portland, Indiana. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Tyree Funeral Home in Mount Hope with Pastor Sam Vance officiating. Burial will follow at Willis Branch Community Cemetery at Pax.
