Betty Jane Nuckels Fox, 77, of Route 1 Box 233-C, Fayetteville, died Wednesday, March 3, 2004, at her home following a long illness. Born November 16, 1926 at Hilltop, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Charles Arthur and Macel Ardeth Buckland Nuckels. Mrs. Fox worked as a secretary from her high school graduation until her retirement. She was an active member of Oak Hill Baptist Church, Fayette Baptist Association, West Virginia Baptist Association, and American Baptist Churches. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Joseph and Frederick Marshall Nuckels. Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Loren Jackson Fox, Sr., two sons, , Larry Fox and his wife, Carroll of Gatewood, and Charles R. Fox and his wife, Linda of Wheeling; four grandsons, L.J. Fox, III and his wife, Marjorie of Oak Hill, Brian A. Fox of Pembroke Pines, Florida, Eric Wellman and his wife, Kimberly, and Todd Wellman and his wife, Jennifer of Wheeling; eight great-grandchildren, Kai Tlynne, l. Jackson, IV, Caladan, and Meridian Fox of Oak Hill, Ethan, Jimmy, Mallory, and Sara of Wheeling; four sisters, Hilda Richards of Gatewood, Maxine O'Dell of St. Albans, Juanita Weddington and Elizabeth Kearns both of South Charleston. At her request, Mrs. Fox's body has been donated to the Human Gift Registry at West Virginia University. A memorial service will be held at Oak Hill Baptist Church, Sunday, March 14, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. David White officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Betty's name to Rainbow Acres, an organization that builds ranches and programs for mentally handicapped adults.
