Bessie "Granny Mae" Scarbro

Bessie "Granny Mae" Wriston Scarbro,90, of Route 1, Scarbro, left this life to await the rapture of the saints of our Lord Jesus Christ on Thursday, November 17, 2005 at an Oak Hill care center. She was born August 12, 1915 at Mossy,WV, a daughter of the late William "Bill" and Martha Stover Wriston. Mrs. Scarbro was a homemaker. She spent many years of her life attending church at Oak Hill Apostolic Holiness Church and the Beckwith Apostolic Church, Beckwith; she was a faithful soldier for her Lord. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Mavin K. Scarbro in July 1988; an infant son, Bobby Dayton Scarbro; three brothers, Allie, Troy, and Clarence Wriston; three sisters, Tellie Stover, Kathleen Wendell and Violet Scarbro. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survivors include one son, Larry N. Scarbro of Rt. 1, Scarbro; one daughter, Judith Lively and her husband, Roma M. Lively of Rt. 1, Scarbro; two grandsons, Randy Lively of Rt. 1, Scarbro and Jeffrey Lively and his wife, Bonnie of Oak Hill; several nieces and nephews. She loved her family dearly and also left behind a host of friends and brothers and sisters of her church family and a very good friend and neighbor, Virginia Shreve, who visited her often when she could. Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM Sunday, November 20, at the Beckwith Apostolic Church, Beckwith with Pastor Richard Barker and Rev. Bobby Ayers, II officiating. Burial will follow at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill. Friends may call from 6:30 PM until 8:30 PM Saturday evening at the Beckwith Apostolic Church. Pallbearers will be Keith Elswick, J. R. Toney, Shawn Evans, Johnny Hendricks, Arnie Maynard, and Tim Vicars.
