Bessie Elizabeth Green Kitchen, 81, of Portland, TX formerly of Oak Hill, WV, died on Saturday, December 04, 2004 at Christus Spohn Shoreline Hospital in Corpus Christi, TX following a short illness. Born September 19, 1923 at Longview, TX she was the daughter of the late Fred and Lela Lee Green. For forty-five years, Mrs. Kitchen worked as a florist in Texas, California and West Virginia. She was the founder and former proprietor of Bessie's Flower Shop in Oak Hill. She moved to Portland, TX in March of 2000. Mrs. Kitchen was of the Presbyterian faith and a member of the ChatWork Civic Club in Portland. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Joseph Kitchen, on April 11, 1998. Survivors include daughters, Dolores (Alton) Ezell of Portland, TX; a son, Tommy (Cynthia) Morris of El Paso, TX; sister, Mittie Cleveland of Tyler, TX; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Other survivors include, Mr. Kitchen's daughter, Emaline Janson of Loon Lake, WA and Mrs. Morris' daughter. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill on Friday, December 10, 2004, from 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm. Services will be on Friday, December 10, 2004 at 2:00 pm at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill with Rev. William Slates officiating. Entombment will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill WV. Pallbearers will be David Kitchen, Cliff Ezell, Larry Cox, Jerry Wayne Smith, Shelvey Backus and Bill Halstenberg.
