Bernstein "B.N." Cooper

Bernstein Neville "B.N." Cooper, in his 91st year, of Pineville, WV died on Tuesday, August 24, 2004 at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, WV. Born December 20, 1913 at Creston (Little Creek), WV he was the son of the late Howard C. and Sarah Jane Shrader Cooper. He was retired as Assistant Superintendent for Cabot Oil and Gas Company in Pineville. Mr. Cooper was a member of the Cook Memorial Baptist Church, Pineville where he served as a deacon. He was also a member of the Pineville Lions Club with 29 years of dedicated service to the community. Mr. Cooper pursued his God given talent of playing the guitar and violin. As a young man he had his own band and has enjoyed entertaining others throughout his life time. B.N. was an avid gardener and enjoyed woodworking. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Opal Eloise Davis Cooper on May 12, 1996; an infant daughter, Carletta Joy Cooper; a granddaughter, Rebecca Lynn Cooper and his only brother, Forrest A. Cooper. Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Joyce Worrell and husband, Dennis, of Oceana; Patricia Jane Lewis and husband, Clinton Pannell of Wyoming; two sons, Mitchell David Cooper and wife, Linda, of Sophia and Randall Boyd Cooper and wife, Martha, of Bluefield, VA. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Tina Marie Worrell Head and husband, Greg of Gray, TN; Tracie Rae Lewis-Smith and husband, Dave, of Beckley; David Lane Worrell and wife, Michelle, of Scott Depot; Gretchen Marjorie-Eloise Lewis of Roanoke, VA; Meghan Quinn Cooper and Bernstein Neville Cooper, II of Sophia. In addition, he is survived by five great grandchildren, Patrick Pannell Lewis Smith of Beckley; Alexander Lee Worrell and Dylan Lane Worrell of Scott Depot; Emilee Grace Head and Olivia Faith Head of Gray, TN; a sister, Byrnadeen Offutt of Millstone and by several nieces and nephews. At Mr.Cooper's request his body was donated to the West Virginia University Department of Anatomy Human Gift Registry, Morgantown, WV. Family and friends may call at Cook Memorial Baptist Church on Thursday, August 26, 2004, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Memorial service will be on Thursday, August 26, 2004 at 1:00 pm at Cook Memorial Baptist Church in Pineville. with Rev. Clay Phillips and Rev. Glen Kuhn officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Pineville Lions Club, PO Box 990, Pineville, WV 24874.
