Barbara Jean Wallace Korn , 70, of Fayetteville Rt 1 died on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV. Born June 26, 1942 at Kingston, WV she was the daughter of Gloria Hyden Wallace of Gatewood Road, Fayetteville, WV and the late Orlan B. Wallace. Barbara was an active member and singer at the Harvey Chapel United Methodist Church and was very appreciative of her loving “Church family.” She had worked at Tom's Carryout and Helen's Delicatessen both in Oak Hill as well as Medical Disposals in Marietta, GA. Her husband, Harry Edwin "Ed" Korn and a son, David "Babe" Austin, Jr. preceded her in death as did her grandparents, William and Lula Armstrong Hyden and Arthur and Roda Aaron Wallace. Survivors include a daughter, Ella Helmick and husband, Rick, a granddaughter Holly Durham and a great granddaughter, Katelynn Durham all of Oak Hill, one step-daughter, Muriel Robin Korn Kiester of Michigan, three step-sons, Paris Korn, David Korn and Charlie Korn all of Michigan, a brother, Orlan Wallace, Jr. of Gatewood Road, sister, Carolyn Sue Riggs of Hilltop, six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. There was nothing more important to Barbara than her family. She dedicated her life to taking care of everyone and never hesitated to lend a hand. Known as “Mommy” to Holly and Big Maw-Maw” to Katelynn, she was a loving woman whose kindness and courage will be sadly missed. Funeral services will be on Monday, October 15, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Rev. Robert Pauley and Connie Holly officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.
