Barbara Gene Kincaid Oxley

Barbara Gene Kincaid Oxley , 92, of Grand Rapids, MI formerly of Oak Hill, WV died on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Porter Hills Village in Grand Rapids, MI. Born May 06, 1921 at Plymouth, MI she was the daughter of the late Virgil Elmer and Viola Bonnie DeLung Kincaid. Mrs. Oxley was a retired auditor for G.C. Murphy, Co. with over 30 years service and was a homemaker. She was of the Methodist faith. Gene had two great loves, her family and her pets (not necessarily in that order.) She was known as "Granny" by all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren and will be missed in every way. Her husband, Mike Chapler; son, William D. Oxley, Jr.; sisters, Velma "Dutch" Holland, Margueritte Hill and Aleriene Burr and brothers, David V. Kincaid and Thomas O. Kincaid preceded her in death. Gene is survived by her loving and devoted family which includes two sons, Thomas M. Oxley and wife, Bev of Oak Hill and David M. Oxley and wife, Lisa of Powhatan, VA; two daughters, Bonnie C. Frommelt of Grand Rapids, MI and Teresa E. Simmons and husband, James of Charlotte, NC; daughter-in-law, Carol Oxley of Havelock, NC; ten grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Funeral services will be on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Rev. Harry Fuller officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill. Friends may call from 12:00 Noon until service time on Saturday at the funeral home. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the New River Humane Society, PO Box 955, Fayetteville WV 25840.
