Athena Maria Louisos, 101, on Sunday morning October 20, 2024 instead of church she entered the gates of Heaven to be with Jesus. She was born August 9th, 1923 to Tom and Brentha Kamits in Beckley, WV. Proud to be a Centenarian she was recognized by the City of Oak Hill proclaiming August 9th as a day to honor her.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years Paul Louisos; son, Tom Louisos; grandson, Alex Louisos; ten brothers and sisters; and her parents.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Steve Louisos, (Sheila); Annastasia Lee, (Roy); Frank Louisos, (Angela). Grandchildren: Paul Lee, Steve Louisos, Chris Louisos, (Nancy), Erin Louisos, Tom Louisos, (Crystal), Maria Cuthberson, (Tim), Nicholas Louisos and wife. Great grandchildren: TJ Louisos, Tyler Louisos, (Criz), Karli Charles, Kayla Louisos, Tristan Louisos, Logan Veal, Layla Dove, and Annslee Louisos. Great great grandchildren: Azyna Charles, Zane Charles, Aubrey Riser, Stella Louisos, Lexie Louisos, several nieces and nephews and her Yorkie, Kitty.
Along with her husband Paul, in the 1960's they founded Tom's Carryout in Oak Hill here thousands of people over the years have been served.
Athena Loved the Lord and held prayer meeting once a week at her house for 50 years. She was a member of Crossroads Apostolic Church, and would gladly sing the Christian song, 'He Is My Everything" as a witness to anyone entering her home. She enjoyed cooking and loved her family.
For over 100 years Athena spread love, acceptance, and wisdom. Her influence will reverberate throughout time. In this way, she will always be with us-always in our hearts and minds and our greatest deeds.
A special heartfelt thank you to her prayer, visitation, and telephone partners Kathy and Mark Sizemore, Roxanne Hendrick, Charlotte and Danny Yoney, Christina Burk, Drema and Gene Perdue, Bj Ayers, Sonya Dunkley, Jeannie and Steve Wilson, Gary and Louella Frasier, Cat Merritt, Melisa and Mike Naylor, Tim and Kim Vicars, Paul Lee, Cheryl Harris and Scarbro United Methodist Church, and many others.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 23, 2024, from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 PM with the service starting at 1:00 PM at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel in Oak Hill with Pastor Timothy Vicars officiating. Graveside service will follow at High Lawn Memorial Park.
