Annette E. Johnson

November 21, 1954 — August 29, 2013

I've heard it said That people come into our lives for a reason Bringing something we must learn And we are led To those who help us most to grow If we let them And we help them in return Well, I don't know if I believe that's true But I know I'm who I am today Because I knew you I have been changed for good So let me say before we part So much of me Is made of what I learned from you You'll be with me Like a handprint on my heart And now whatever way our stories end I know you have re-written mine By being my friend... Who can say if I've been changed for the better? But because I knew you… I have been changed for good From lyrics For Good from Wicked Annette E. Johnson, 58, of Oak Hill, WV died Thursday, August 29, 2013 at her residence. Born November 21, 1954 in Oak Hill, she was the daughter of Glen Darrell Johnson of Oak Hill and the late Theola Gay Evans Johnson. She received her Masters Degree from West Virginia University and taught at her alma mater, Oak Hill High School for over twenty years, where she was Student Council Sponsor and HI-TEEN sponsor. She was an avid animal lover, especially her dog. Daughter, niece, cousin, neighbor, friend, educator, Mountaineer, ANNette was one of the world’s biggest fans. As a fan, she bled blue and gold because she loved her Mountaineers. A fan of the roar and thunder of the big race, she waved Dale Junior’s flag, often in the faces of his competitors’ fans. A fan of great music, she cited The Rock And Roll Hall of Fame as her Mecca here on earth, where she trekked every summer to visit family and soak up Janis, and Jim and Steven. She was a fan of challenging, inspirational education because she loved her students, and thoughtfully prepared provocative lessons for them in psychology and history. Annette was a fan of man’s best friend, because her dogs were truly her best friends. And, Annette was a fan of her friends, supporting them with generosity, unconditional love and humor. ANNette leaves behind many memories of road trips and ball games, dog shampoos and lake trips, weddings and Halloweens. She will be missed by her dad, Darrell Johnson; her dog, Bailey; and her many fans: students, colleagues and friends. If there’s a rock and roll heaven, she’s got front row tickets. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, September 1, 2013 at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill with Rev. Father James DeViese and Rev. Pete Lokant officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 until service time. Family and friends will gather at 4:00 PM on Monday, September 9, 2013 at the High Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Oak Hill to entomb Annette's cremains.
