Ann A. Stanevich Neubert

Ann Alice Stanevich Neubert, age 87, of Alliance, OH formerly of Oak Hill, WV, passed away Monday, February 25, 2008 in Alliance, OH. Born in Eccles, WV on March 16, 1920 to the late Charles and Victoria Stanevich, she moved at the age of one to Summerlee, WV where she attended grade school and graduated from Oak Hill High School in 1937. Ann married Leonard Neubert on July 3, 1940. From 1940-1957, Ann was a loving housewife and mother to five children. In 1957 to help support the family, Ann took a job as a cook at Rosedale School. She later worked for Dr. Bittinger as an office “nurse”, then worked in the Oak Hill Hospital kitchen. Her next job was as a receptionist and society editor for the Fayette Tribune. Ann was then employed by the Department of Welfare for 11 years, first as a file clerk and then as an Eligibility Specialist. She retired in 1973. Ann’s hobbies were reading, writing, gardening, camping and fishing. She has been a member of the Oak Hill Nazarene Church for over 50 years, where she taught Sunday school classes, was supervisor of the Children’s Department, was Links secretary for the Missionary Society, delegate to Missionary Conventions, and treasurer of the Shuck Memorial Flower Fund. Ann loved to write even having some poems and stories published. Her story entitled “We Belong to These Hills” was published in the Ladies Home Journal July, 1962 issue. Ann was preceded in death by her husband Leonard and two brothers—Charles Stanevich and John Stanevich. She is survived by her brothers—Tony Stanevich of Akron, OH and Frank Stanevich and his wife Margaret of Seven Hills, OH; her five children—three sons—Leonard E., Jr. and his wife Donna of Cincinnati, OH; Thomas of Scottsville, VA; and John of Wooster, OH; and two daughters, Elizabeth (Betty) Smith of Alliance, OH and Ramona Reggi and her husband John of Wheeling, WV; twelve grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Visitation will be Sat., March 1, 2008 from 6-8 PM at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill, WV. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P. M. Sunday, March 2, 2008, at the Oak Hill Nazarene Church with Pastor Bush officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park.
