Ambers Lee Shelor

Ambers Lee Shelor Sr., 87, of Mount Hope, WV died on Saturday, November 20, 2004 at Pine Lodge in Beckley, WV following a long illness. Born April 25, 1917 at Packs Branch, WV he was the son of the late Arthur Lee and Goldie Sink Shelor. He was a 1939 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, Beckley where he played right guard on the Flying Eagles' football team and won 1st place in a 1938 WV regional track meet. Ambers owned and operated Shelor's Dairy and was a retired Raleigh Count school bus driver. He was past president of the North Sand Branch Elementary School PTA; past president of the Raleigh County School Bus Drivers' Association; past member of the Board of Directors, Southern States Cooperative; past committee member of the Farm and Home Administration; served 25 years as a member of the Farm Service Agency and was a past member of the Bradley Lion's Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Erma Betty Nickell Shelor in 1997; son, Ambers Lee Shelor, Jr; daughter, Margaret Kay Shelor and a grandson, Philip Kesler. Survivors include son, Gregg Shelor of Rt 1, Mount Hope; daughter, Katy Errington of Mason, OH; sisters, Annabelle Salyer of Troy, VA and Lucy Tanner of Virginia; four grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home on Friday, November 26, 2004, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. Services will be on Saturday, November 27, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope with Rev. Harmon Davis officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill WV. Flowers will be accepted or donations of sympathy may be made to the Little Valley Baptist Church, c/o Brenda Presley, 1121 Old Eccles Road, Beckley, WV 25801.
