Alfred G. Tyree

Alfred G. Tyree, 81, of Pax, WV died on Saturday, June 19, 2004 at Hidden Valley Healthcare Center in Oak Hill, WV following a short illness. Born July 08, 1922 at Pax, WV he was the son of the late Granville and Harriett "Hattie" Brunk Tyree. He was a retired electrician for Peabody Coal Company at Twilight, WV. Mr. Tyree was a member of the Long Branch United Methodist Church, Long Branch, WV and the United Mine Workers of America. He served in the Navy during World War II having attained the rank of Seaman 2nd Class. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Chlora Ewalt and Lorene Tyree. Survivors include wife of 57 years, Louise Meadows Tyree; son, David L. Tyree of Pax; daughter, Jo Lynn (Dale) Hoke of Little Rock, Ark.; brother, William "Bill" Tyree of Jacksonville, FL; sister, Marie Meador of Oak Hill; grandchildren, Cynthia (Shannon) Tyree Keel of Morgantown and Elizabeth (George) Yurkovich of Pax; great grandchildren, Kathryn and Nathan Yurkovick of Pax and an extended family. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill on Tuesday, June 22, 2004, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. Graveside rites and committal services will be on Wednesday, June 23, 2004, at 11:00 am at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Prosperity with Rev. Chalmar Abrams officiating. Burial will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity WV.
