Airman Kevin Allen Cogar Jr., 19, of Oak Hill, WV died on Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, WV from injuries received in a motorcycle accident. Born August 18, 1985 at Beckley, WV he was the son of Tammy Elizabeth Hamilton Martin and her husband, Jerry Martin, Sr. of Oak Hill, WV and Kevin Cogar, Sr. and his wife, Carol Cogar, of Fayetteville, WV. He was an airman in the US Air Force stationed at McQuire Air Force Base as an air transportation journeyman. He had been awarded the Basic Training ribbon, National Defense Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal and the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award. He attended the Fellowship Memorial Baptist Church, Oak Hill, WV, Kevin enjoyed rock climbing and motorcycle riding. He was a 2003 graduate of Oak Hill High School. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Glema Lafferty Cogar. Survivors include one brother, Chad Wayne Cogar of Oak Hill; two half sisters, KaSarah Treadway of Oak Hill and Katelyne Cogar of Fayetteville; two step-sisters, Charleigh Newhouse of Fayetteville and Jessica Martin of Danese; two step-brothers, Jerry Martin, Jr. and Jason Martin of Danese; maternal grandparents, Edward and Tronda Hamilton of Oak Hill; paternal grandfather, Lowell Gene Cogar, Sr. of Scarbor; great grandmothers, Madge Dilley and Romanza Hamilton both of Oak Hill; two uncles, Lowell Gene Cogar, Jr. and Edward Thomas Hamilton; one aunt, Kimberly McKinney Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill on Saturday, May 21, 2005, from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM and on Sunday, May 22, 2005, at Fellowship Memorial Baptist Church from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Services will be on Sunday, May 22, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. at Fellowship Memorial Baptist Church, Terry Avenue just off Gatewood Road in Oak Hill with Rev. Bill Menefee and Rev. Daniel Rice officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill WV with a military honor guard rom Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, OH conducting the military graveside rites. Pallbearers will be Chad Cogar, Rocky McDonald, Jeff Shields, Tommy Munoz, Luke Workman and Jamie Lively. Church members will provide food for family and friends at the Fellowship Memorial Baptist Church immediately following the graveside rites. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Kevin Cogar, Jr. Memorial Fund, 815 Sanger Road, Oak Hill, WV 25901.
