Mary Frances Spears

Mary Frances (Mance) Wright Spears, 91, of Mt. Hope passed away on July 30, 2017 at Greenbrier Health Care Center, Lewisburg.
Mary was born at Long Branch, WV on December 9, 1925 the daughter of the late Bruce A. and Lessie M. Thompson Wright.
She is preceded in death by her husband; Tom R. a daughter; Denise Chafin, and son; Tom R. Jr., a grandson Jody, four brothers and four sisters.
She graduated in 1944 from Pax High School as valedictorian of her class. Mary was employed by the New River Company for several years and retired from the Mine Saftey and Health Administration as one of the first female federal mine inspectors. She was a member of the Pax and Prosperity Church of Christ. Mary was a excellent cook, gardener, seamstress, mother, and grandma. She was a woman of exceptional faith.
Mary is survived by daughters; Dianne Wood of Maple Fork, and Geneva Lessie Hodge (husband Clarence) of Lewisburg, daughter in law; Lanoma Spears of Beckley, eight grandchildren, Todd Jefferson Spears, Ashley Denise Adams, Jeremy Franklin Adams, Brian Jeffrey Hodge, Aaron Matthew Hodge, Eric Thomas Spears, two step grandchildren Tanya Pelfrey and Stephanie Adkins and husband Paul; and ten great grandchildren, Matthew Thomas Spears, Joshua Spears, Sophia Balderas, Isabella Balderas, Morgun Faulkner, Rhianna Spears, Catelyn Shay Hodge, Chloe Nichole Hodge, Marshall Adkins and Lydia Jael Hodge.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, August 4, 2017 at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope with Grandson, Pastor Aaron Hodge officiating. Burial will follow at Pax Community.
Visitation for friends will be Thursday, August 3, 2017 from 6:00 P.M. To 8:00 P.M at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope.
Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
