Charles “Rick” Blankenship, Jr. also known to many as “Shotgun” was called home to his heavenly father on Monday, March 21, 2022 due to complications of pneumonia.
He was born on October 20, 1962 in Goldsboro, NC, he was the son of Darrell Gene Worrell and the late Barbara Ann Curtis Worrell.
Rick was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and brother. Rick worked for over 40 years as a coal hauler. He was a long time employee of Debrich Trucking. He was a talker, often telling stories about fishing and hauling coal. He enjoyed spending time with family on the beach; loved having his feet in the sand. He enjoyed fishing, drawing, lifting weights and most of all spending time spoiling his Grandbabies and fur babies whom he loved and cherished with all his heart.
He was preceded in death by 2 sisters; Virginia Gail Worrell and Lisa Marie Worrell and 3 grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory is his loving and devoted wife of 19 years; Bertha Blankenship of Hico, WV; a daughter, Krissie (Jerry) Wood of Richlands, NC; a son, Curtis (Nicole) Blankenship of Danese, WV; stepdaughter, Brittany Shumaker (Jonathon) of Oak Hill, WV; stepson, Nickolas Shumaker of Glen Fork, WV; grandchildren, Kayla Wood, Landyn Wood, Sienna Wood, and Rosalie Blankenship; step granddaughter, Amiayah Swafford of Oak Hill, WV; brothers, Billy (Michelle) Worrell of Red Star, WV, Barri (Becky) Blankenship of Fayetteville, WV.; sisters, Lori (Tim) Hornsby of Ghent, WV, Sharri (Jesse) Tarazon of Tuscon, AZ, Mazie Worrell of Parkersburg, WV, Nina Worrell of Crab Orchard, WV and Lacy Fields of Bradley, WV; stepmother, Virginia Ann Worrell of Crab Orchard, WV.; mother-in-law, Lena Daniels of Ravenswood, WV.; “Long time brother from another mother”; James Giles aka 'Cisco” and wife Deanna Giles of Morgantown, WV.; As well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be held on Thursday March 24, 2022 at 6:00PM at the Red Star Baptist Church. A visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to services. Pastor Ronald Sears will be officiating.
